PUBLISHED BY NELLIE from butterwithasideofbread.com

Chocolate Cherry Oreo Balls made with just 5 ingredients for the perfect easy dessert! These little no bake truffles are simply made with Oreo cookies and cherry pie filling.

We love Oreo balls. The traditional Oreo ball recipe only has 3 ingredients and is one of the easiest and yummiest treats to make. It is very easy to modify this recipe and come up with all kinds of creations to fit every holiday or special occasion.

The chocolate/cherry combination has always been one of my favorites. I decided that I needed to figure out how to create a cherry version of the Oreo ball, and this recipe was created. And yes, it’s just as amazing as I thought it would be. And yes, you can change the flavor by using any flavor of Oreo and pie filling you’d like!

WHAT ARE CHOCOLATE CHERRY OREO BALLS?

Chocolate Cherry Oreo Balls are made with Oreo cookies and cherry pie filling. The Oreo cookies are crushed up and then mixed with cream cheese, pie filling and cherry extract. This “dough” can then be formed into balls that are dipped in chocolate. Taste just like gourmet truffles, but are so easy to make!

INGREDIENTS IN CHOCOLATE CHERRY OREO BALLS:

Oreos: We need 36 Oreo cookies (filling and all) crushed into a fine dust. I like to use a blender to crush the Oreos, but you can place them in a Ziplock bag and smash them with a rolling pin if you prefer to do it by hand.

Cream cheese: Just 4 ounces of softened cream cheese will help to bind the cookie crumbs together. You can use regular cream cheese or a low-fat version.

Cherry Pie filling: 1/2 cup of cherry pie filling is where most of the cherry flavor comes from.

Cherry extract: Adding in 1/4 teaspoon of cherry extract will really help to bring in the cherry flavor we want to pair with the chocolate.

Chocolate bark: Using chocolate bark, melting chocolate, or even chocolate chips will help us to get the hard chocolate coating on the outside of every truffle. Whatever kind of chocolate you use, you’ll need about 16 ounces.
